About the Author
Anne Schober was born in Birmingham, Alabama and spent her elementary years moving around the south and Midwest. At the age of thirteen, she relocated to Lancaster, PA. In 1983, she graduated from Gannon University with an Associate’s degree in Medical Assisting. Later, in 2001, she obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in English Education from Millersville University.
Her career in education spans both public and private sectors. Anne worked for three years in public education and then spent twelve years at Lancaster Catholic High School, where she also held the position of English Department Chairperson. In July of 2007, Anne's accomplishments led her to be selected from a pool of over 10,000 applicants to work with Erin Gruwell and the Freedom Writers Foundation. As a result, she became one of the 400 educators worldwide certified as a Freedom Writer teacher.
Alongside her teaching endeavors, Anne has been an adjunct at the Pennsylvania Writing Institute, hosted at Millersville University, for the past eight years. She made her mark as a published author in August 2010, with the release of "Teaching Hope," a compilation of stories from the classroom written by the Freedom Writer teachers, along with Erin Gruwell.
Currently, Anne is traversing the United States, engaging with teachers and emphasizing the significance of forming connections with students to help them realize their true potential. Through this approach, she believes miracles happen in the classroom and leave a lasting impact.
